Where the data comes from
The list of licensed operators comes from SRIJ’s «Entidades licenciadas» page, read every night. We store each brand, its licensed site, the licensed operator and each licence, with its number, game type, status and links to the PDFs of the licence and its amendments («averbamentos»).
The end date of each sports-betting licence is read from the latest document that sets it: the licence itself or the latest «prorrogação do prazo de vigência» (extension). We read the PDF’s text first; if the PDF is a scan, we use optical character recognition (OCR) in Portuguese. If the date cannot be read with confidence, it shows as [TO BE VERIFIED].
How we check
Every published fact has a source and a date. A fact without a confirmed source shows as [TO BE VERIFIED], never as a value. The legal rules we quote (minimum age, self-exclusion, advertising, illegal gambling) were read in the official texts: the Legal Regime for Online Gambling and Betting (RJO), the Advertising Code and SRIJ’s pages. The full list is on the Sources page.
How we read SRIJ’s website
Our robot identifies itself as «BetsPT-bot/1.0», makes at most one request per second, caches responses and stops at once if the site refuses access. It never works around a block.
The checker
The checker compares the address with the domains on SRIJ’s list. It removes «https://», «www», the port and the path, and counts subdomains as the main domain. The possible answers are: licensed, licence ending (fewer than 90 days), licence suspended at the operator’s request, and no betting licence. When the domain holds an SRIJ licence for other games only, we say so.
SRIJ does not publish its list of blocked sites, so we never answer “blocked”.
What we do not do
- We do not take bets.
- We give no predictions or picks, and show no odds.
- We do not rank operators: the list is alphabetical.
- We do not promote casino games.
- We do not link to unlicensed sites.
When an operator loses its licence
An operator whose licence ends, or that leaves SRIJ’s list, disappears automatically from every list and profile. An operator whose activity is suspended at its own request stays on the list, marked «suspended» and without a link to its site.
